Got a pair of the Super Nova Glide IIs as a replacement exchange at REI when my old trail running shoes experienced a structural failure. I had been using trail running shoes on and off road and wanted to try actual running shoes this time since most of our running in on roads anyway. What a difference. While not quite as minimal as my old shoes, these make up for it in comfort and performance. Many of the foot and ankle pains I got on longer runs with my old shoes are gone. My per mile pace has also improved, which I didn't expect just from a new pair of shoes. The longest single run I've taken them on so far was only 7.5 miles, but am training for a half-marathon so they will get pushed a lot further soon. I'm not concerned at all about the shoes being able to handle it.
I'm a large guy, 6'3" 230lbs, and these shoes have plenty of cushion for me. I have and narrow midfoot, wide forefoot, high-ish arches and I under-pronate a bit. So far, these shoes seem like a good match for me.
Pros:
-Comfy, cushy, and supportive
-Stiff sole good for larger runners
-Decent traction
-good breathability over the toes
-depression under the footbed for the Adidas miCoach sensor. The Nike+ sensor I already had fits in there perfectly.
Cons:
-Fluorescent yellow trim. Really, Adidas?
-Wish they were a little bit more ventilated on the sides
-A tad heavier than my old shoes
-I realize this isn't just an Adidas thing, but why must shoe-makers label EVERY single technical component of the shoe with some kind of gimicky trademark?
